Cute baby!

Dorian likes to pull the bathtub out and sit in it. He even takes toys in there to play with. Then he crawls in and out over and over again. It's very funny. I'm not sure if he remembers that it's a bathtub that he used to sit in when he was smaller, but he does really like it.

He has a new little container with a "trap" on top so that all the food doesn't fall out, but he can reach in and get the food out. Well, smart little dude that he is, he figured out that he can pull one of the flaps back and hold it open, then shake the heck out of it and watch everything come flying out. So much for that idea....was a great thought until 12 month old Dorian got a hold of it!

Dorian and Milo

Dorian and Milo are the best of buds! They get to hang out together every Monday while Maria goes to work with me. They love to give hugs and kisses and they are even sharing toys now! Dorian will take a toy from Milo, but he's usually good at bringing a new one over to him too.

Though Milo isn't crawling yet, he can roll himself to wherever he needs to go, and can sort of keep up with Dorian. He gets a kick out of Dorian crawling all around him though and Dorian really tries to do what he can to get Milo to laugh. It's very cute.

They also like to hang out and watch Baby Einstein videos with Grandpa. I hope that they grow up to be more like brothers, they do get such a kick out of each other, that would be nice to have someone so close.

Well, today I was apparently a road worker on highway 80. I got up like usual and it was pretty gray and rainy. Grabbed a jacket just in case it rained more or was cold, but here in Reno it really wasn't that bad. I got to Truckee and it started snowing pretty bad. It got worse and worse as I headed up Donner. About 2 miles from the summit I got around a curve and saw a big truck on its back. There was someone pounding on the inside window trying to get out. I stopped and ran back just as the guy managed to crawl out the door. He says he lost control in the slush, hit the side of the mountain and rolled. Scary. He was bleeding a bit from his elbow and was a little shaky. Lucky for me someone else stopped and they had a first aid kit so we could patch him up. I have no idea where mine went. Hmmm... Bad me. Finally the ambulance and police came and I left. I saw a couple more accidents with police already there. That's when I thought, hmmmm how important is it for me to get to Auburn and back today? I only had 2 patients scheduled. I decided to be safe and turn around and go home. Well, I turn around and not 2 miles in the other direction, I see headlights facing me. Well, it's a one way road, there shouldn't be headlights!
Also, they were off the side of the embankment. 80 is very scary because of the dropoffs on the sides. Well, he spun out and slid down the dropoff backwards. A couple of trees stopped him. Hooray for trees! He only had a little cut and some muscle aches. Nobody had stopped to help, they probably just didn't see him since he was down the side of the hill. I waited with him for the police and towtruck. Turns out he was a ref for the basketball tournament in Reno and he didn't have a way to get there now. Since that's where I was going, I decided to give him a lift. Nice guy too! His poor car, totalled. Still though, could have been a LOT worse, like no trees to stop him. So I made it home and snuggled with my boys and all is well. I HATE slippery roads, especially 80. Ah well... Anyone wanna buy a cute little office in Auburn?
And of course I have to end with a little picture of the cutest baby ever. He discovered noodles with LOTS of sauce. Every bite was "mmmmmm". He probably ate at least 1/2 a cup full! Yummy yummy! :)

NEW OFFICE!!!

Hooray we have anew office! So this will be Karl's main office now. Here are a few pictures. The one above is of the snazzy x-ray room. So exciting to have an x-ray for him to use whenever he wants. And it's a nice high frequency one with digital display and everything! The picture below shows a shot of the adjusting room. It is one big room with four tables lined up together. So everyone can chat while they are being adjusted. We haven't worked with this system before, so it should be interesting. I do have 2 rooms that are next to each other with the wall in between mostly gone, so mine is basically one room and that has worked well (Auburn practice).
This is a little alcove room that has the children's adjusting table in it as well as new patient wall with testimonials etc. you can just see the front of the office here a little bit.
And here is the man himself. :) Dr. Karl V. Forsberg, DC, CKTP. aka Mr. Fancy Pants.
This is the children's adjusting table. It's a little school bus. Very cute.
Another shot of the main room, this time from the front of the office.
That is Karl (duh) and Dr. Christine Epper, the one we bought the office from. She had to have a kidney transplant because both of hers shut down. That is why she had to sell the office. And we were more than happy to have it!
The back office. This is between the main room and the x-ray room. There is a private adjusting table for people who are shy, a TV for report of findings as well as the x-ray view box so you can show people how messed up their spine is. Nice.
That's it!!! So Karl officially starts with patients next Wednesday. Wish him luck! Now he has to go earn the big bucks to pay back the loan for the office. yay. :)

Awwww....

Just wanted to put in a collection of cute photos again. Of course Karl and I never get tired of staring at the little man, so now you get to also! This first one is when we went to a business lunch meeting. He slept through most of it which made the meeting very easy to do. This picture is of him at his birthday party again, but I wanted to show him mowing again. You can really see how he is ripping the grass out, looking at it and then dropping it all over his lap. Very funny
And of course the only picture where he looks mildly excited about his cake. Actually, I think it was the candle more than the cake, but oh well. Dada was trying to show him how to blow out the candle. We're not quite there yet.
Last picture, Dada and Dorian, cute!

Mother's Day present

Yesterday seemed to be the Water day! I got my Mother's day present yesterday!!! I got a pedicure and manicure from Nicole. Well, Karl gave it to me, but our friend Nicole did them. :) It was very nice. Dorian got to do the pedicure with me while we waited for Dada. He really liked standing in the bubbles. It was very cute. So he got a little mini pedicure. Very soft little baby feet! Of course he did keep trying to sit down in the water to play. Mom felt very pampered. Thank you Karl and Dorian!

"river" time

Yesterday Dorian and I were looking for something to do in the heat. I was also trying to get him to go to sleep, so we went for a little drive to the south end of town where there is an outdoor mall. Well, baby didn't sleep (of course), but we DID find a cool little fountain/river to play in! Dorian just stood there and splashed in the water and threw rocks. He gave me rocks to throw too, it was very nice of him to share. He does that now, share I mean. He hands you things and doesn't even take them away again! He also shares with his cousin Milo, which is very nice to see.

After the impromptu bath in the fountain baby was of course VERY wet, so it was the perfect excuse for mama to get some new clothes! Lucky for me, there is a gymboree and an old navy right there, both of which had convenient summer sales. So, baby got some new clothes. :)

more party pictures!

Well, the party at Glenda's house was a big hit with Dorian. He got to sit outside on the grass and "mow"! He likes to just sit there and pull the grass up and then drop it around him in little clumps. He doesn't like standing on the grass because it tickles his feet, but sitting and mowing is great fun.

Here is a picture of Glenda and Dorian. Glenda is of course the wonder woman when it comes to getting Dorian to sleep, and sleep for a long time. She says it must be because she's boring that he always sleeps so well, but we think it's just that her house is so nice and quiet and relaxing (when Skipper's not barking).

Dorian definately found a new love of balloons. He kept laying on them and hugging them. It was the cutest thing EVER. He didn't even mind when one popped! We all just looked at him and smiled like it was the most natural thing in the world for them to blow up and so he decided it must be ok. Several of them have popped since then, and he doesn't mind at all except that he has to go look for a new balloon.

Like I said before, the cake wasn't as big of a hit as I was hoping, but oh well. It got mashed up a little bit. The "ewwww" expression on his face is great though huh?

And since we don't have that many pictures with Grandpa, here is one now! Dorian was getting him to lift him up so he could play with a hanging wind catcher. Over and over again.

Pictures of the Party

We had a little birthday party for Dorian. Acutally, it's really more for the adults, but he did like the attention! He did not, however, really like the cake. I made him his own little cake with a chocolate layer and a vanilla lemon layer and chocolate mousse and he just didn't appreciate it. Sigh. Acutally, he didn't really even want to get dirty. Karl took his hand and mashed it into the cake a bit and he pulled it out and kept looking at it and giving us an "ewwww" face. Very funny. He didn't stuff any into his mouth either. Ah well, next year. :)
He did get quite a few presents! People go nuts buying baby stuff! It's so fun to shop for. There were some cute clothes, a drum and percussion set, a "smart" cow that interacts with the TV (amazing stuff), and a bowling set that frankly, Karl was the most excited about. Dorian did like his gigantic bag and he LOVES balloons; he didn't cry when one popped and landed on his head either. I'll put up more pictures tomorrow hopefully of that and him dancing with the singing birthday Elmo from Grandnan.
That's all for now! Time to go pick up the big boy now.

Birthday Boy!

Well, on Dorian's birthday we went and took one year pictures. We're having a hard time wrapping our heads around the idea that he is really a year old already. How did that happen??? He is such a big boy already. And he did not want to stand for pictures, he only wanted to sit. It was pretty funny because he kept looking at the flash bulb for the pictures instead of the camera, he figured out pretty fast that's where the light was coming from. We also took a couple pictures as a family since it is pretty rare for us to all be infront of the camera together instead of one of us behind it.

Dorian was a ham. He would have huge smiles and giggle and laugh BETWEEN pictures and then do his little shy smile for the actual picture. Ah well. Maybe he wasn't sure about the little squeaking toy the lady kept putting up to get his attention. Overall it was fun and I'm glad we got to take them ON his actual birthday.

What Dorian did today...

This morning when we went out to go shopping, we tried this hat on Dorian. It almost fits now! He thought it was funny playing peekaboo with us with the hat, so we kept it on for a while. I think that hat is for a two year old, so not quite there yet.

The Muppets are now a staple in this house. I've never really seen the show. I mean i'd heard of them, but not really to watch. Well, D likes them quite a bit. He stares! This was of him just staring at one of the singers on the show. It's very funny. When he's not off trying to find and hide balls, staring at the Muppets is the next best thing.
Karl and Dorian went to the park (while mom stayed home and tried to work...yeah) to feed the ducks. Karl says that Dorian ate almost as much bread as the ducks did, but he sure likes them. Every time we go he thinks they are the neatest things. Live, moving entertainment. Note to self...don't ever take the baby to the lake and expect him to sleep, no matter how tired he is.

So those last three pictures are of Karl and Dorian at the park/lake with the many many duckies.

trying to keep up here....

Well, between running after Dorian, driving to work and buying 2 offices, not to mention planning a wedding, it's been a bit nuts around here! So here is another big batch of pictures.

The first is from a couple of days ago. Dorian and I were hanging out in the morning. It was a really nice warm day, and who doesn't like to run around with nothing on on nice warm days! I'm afraid he's going to figure out how to take his diaper off by himself any day here. Ooops.

He also likes to climb off the bed in the mornings and go in his room to play. He knows how to get the lids off his little buckets and he goes to town taking eveything out and makeing his room look like a small tornado hit. Unfortunately putting everything back IN the buckets hasn't really happened yet, but he's very good at OUT. :)

Dorian has been having some stomach upset trouble and we've been trying to figure out what is going on . That meant baby had to go an the BRATY diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast and yogurt). Well, his is even more modified. Because he is so sensitive, I thought okay, with toast we should do gluten free, so he has rice toast (surprisingly heavy!), and since he can't have dairy, he gets soy yogurt. Ah well. Poor Karl shudders at half the food Dorian has to eat. Hopefully his tummy is better soon and we can get more adventuresome with the food again.

Since he has figured out how to do in and out, he always wants to get things out of bags on his own. So here he is pulling crackers out of a bag (rice crackers!). He gets very upset if we try to help him take things out. "I can do it myself!"

The newest thing along with in and out, is learning UNDER. He will take something and put it under his playpen. In this case, the ball. Then he leans down like this and tries to pull it out again. If he pushed it too far and can't reach it, he gets very mad. Then you have to get it and give it to him. He takes it and puts it right back under again. Very funny. Such a smarty pants.
