A day in the life of...

Today was a very busy day for us. In the morning when Dorian woke up (at 6:30 am) we played a bit. Then we decided that early grocery shopping is the best, so we went and did that. Dorian ended up with this awesome little hat! It's reversible and 100% organic cotton which is a nice bonus. So we played with the hat for a while.
Then he discovered that the bins to his shelf are great for sitting in. He kept trying to climb in and the whole thing would fall over, but once mom helped, it was great to play in there. I threw in a couple of toys with him and he sat in it for about 15 minutes before he decided he wanted out.

After that we took a little nap. Then Daddy came home for lunch and we played some more. We drove him back to work and then went down to Virginia Lake to look at the ducks. It was actually nap time and I thought maybe pushing him around in the stroller would put him to sleep, but nope, the duckies were soooo exciting that he stayed wide awake for 4 trips around the lake.

He fell asleep once we were driving again, so mom decided to take a trip around McCarran Blvd. He was still asleep, so I tried to remember how the heck to get to a drink place that I like, but I couldn't remember that it was in Spanish Springs. I headed out to Sun Valley instead. Nice drive! Baby got in a good nap. I finally did figure out where I was and got my drink. Baby had to have a drink too, and then he was all revved up and ready to drive! By then it was time to go back home and pick up Daddy. A very full and fun filled day~

CUTE!!!

These two pictures were just too cute not to post. Dorian is a really big daddy's boy. Whenever he sees Karl he smiles, he crawls after him and he cries if Karl leaves his line of sight. So here is a cute picture of them.

The other one is of Dorian with a nose strip on. Karl snores at night, so he wears these sticky nose strips. Well, Dorian was playing with it and peeled it off Daddy's nose in the morning, so we stuck it on his. He didn't think it was all that great. I think that's the first frown we've seen in a picture! He promptly peeled it off and threw it on the floor. :)

yummy yummy

Dorian is really liking his food. Noodles and bread are at the top of the list. He gets very angry when he runs out! He had some toast in his hand yesterday and had eaten it all down to his fingers. There was still some left in his hand but he couldn't get it into his mouth, he started crying because he was so frustrated. So he had to have a new piece. Noodles are funny because they stick to his hand and then he tries to pry them off and they get stuck on the other hand.

Yesterday we went to have pho. He likes that because then he gets rice noodles which are perfect for eating and slurping into his mouth. And because yesterday was an extra special day with lots of snow and Auntie Frances coming with us, he also got toast at breakfast. He was trying to fit the entire mandarin in his mouth as well, but not as much luck with that. ;)

Just a little note...

Dorian was playing with Karl helping him pick out which watch to wear. He was sitting in the drawer playing away. Very funny. The other picture was when we were out and about. I wanted to show off how cute he looks in his big boy clothes.

Shoes and walking....

Dorian has some adorable Robeez shoes from Grandnan. They have dragons on them. They are a tiny bit too big, he has about 1/2 and inch of room in front of his big toe, but I put them on him tomorrow they will probably be too small already he is growing sooo fast. We went to the stride rite shoes store and bought some sale shoes for later also. He got measured and is already in a 4.5 shoe. I guess that is usually 12-15 month olds. Guess he'll have big feet like daddy.

I took this picture while he was playing today. He cruises along furniture now to get to where he wants. He's still a little bit wobbly, but he's getting pretty good at it! He'll be walking before too long. Scary! Wish us luck with that one!

play time

Since Dorian is so fast and mobile now, we decided he needed a safe play space. At my parent's house it is hard to make the whole place baby safe so he can go anywhere. Instead, the room D and I stay in when we are there has officially been proofed. He can go anywhere, stand up and hold on to anything, all his toys are in there and he has enough space to really crawl. We just put up the gate to the hallway so he can see everyone still and let him go nuts. Someone is always in the room with him of course, but we can actually get some stuff done, like folding laundry, while he plays. His favorite is if I lay on the floor and he gets to use me as a jungle gym. That's what he was doing yesterday with this picture. He crawls away a bit and wants you to chase after him, then when you're tired and lay down for a sec he attacks! :) It's funny. His room in Reno is set up like that also so he can pretty much have free reign without us running after him and having to take things away or make sure he doesn't hurt himself all the time. He has loads of fun in both places and as always, laughs a lot.

Driving

While we were waiting for Grandma to pick up Dorian this morning, he decided he was big enough to drive. :) Just a cute morning picture of him I thought I would share. It was 8 am and he is bright eyed and bushy tailed!

9 month birthday!

Well, the time has officially flown by!!! Here are some cute pictures that I took over the 12th and 13th for his 9 month birthday. I love the one with his dragon in the background, they have almost the same expression. That is his new face. We call it froggy face. He does that and then says mum mum mum over and over.

The other pictures were taken when we were playing in his room and in his car seat. He is such a happy baby! That is usually the first thing everyone says when they meet him, wow, he's such a happy baby (well right after they say how cute he is of course). He loves naked time (as you can see) and his room is great because he can pretty much roam around in there and not get hurt.

So here's to 3 more months before the really big birthday! Hope everyone enjoys the pictures.

Las Vegas

Dorian, Mom, Dad and I all went to Las Vegas for a convention. It was four days long! It was also Dorian's first time on a plane. On the way there he played the whole time, flirting with all the ladies and peekaboo with some men. It was really funny. No crying or fussing. On the way back he fussed a little bit because we were stuck on the runway for 40 minutes, very boring. Other than that he fell asleep for the whole ride! He nursed both times on take off, so there was no problems with his ears not popping. I took a picture of us flying over a snow covered Nevada.

After 3 days of seminars, we finally got to look around a bit. He liked watching the fountains at the Bellagio. He liked it better with his ears covered because the music was so loud. We watched 2 fountain shows though. It was Chinese New Years, so Las Vegas was all decorated! The Bellagio also had beautiful gardens in the atrium decorated for the occasion, that is the other picture.

updates

Well, it's been a while, so here are some new pictures. The first is the Munchkin with some really nice bed head. I couldn't get his hair to lay flat, no matter what (no I didn't try to stick it down with spit). I put him down for a nap after a shower so his hair was still a little damp and it dried straight up! The other picture is of him eating pizza crust, a new favorite. He just gums the heck out of it! Yum yum...

Superbowl Sunday

We went to Uncle Kenny's (my father's son from another marriage) house yesterday to watch the superbowl and visit with their little son and 3 week old daughter. Kodi (their son) is learning how to give hugs and kisses and pretty much smothered Dorian with them. It was really cute.

Kenny also had a wallet full of fun things to play with, like this credit card! Charging it up already. Dorian likes crawling around on the carpet there because there is lots of open space and the carpet is long and soft. He sits around and just feels it for quite a while, soft stuff!

working out those tiny abs

Dorian likes all electrical appliances, remotes etc, as I have shown before. Well a HUGE favorite is my little stepping exercise maching. He likes to feel the knobby surface and likes us to pushe the petals up and down. He thinks it's great fun. He has drooled so much on it, I'm surprised I don't slip off when I use it. Very funny. That is the first thing he goes for when he gets put on the ground or bed.

Yeehaw?

Here we are at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant to eat Pho. I think I got addicted to this
when I got pregnant, and it never really went away. I'm lucky that Karl likes it also. Dorian decided that he likes Daddy's hat. He kept taking it off and trying to get it back on Karl's head. Then when Karl had it on, he would take it off again so he could play with it. Actually more like gnaw on the rim, but hey. Yummy hat. This is where he tried his first noodle also. :)
